Season's Greetings

Hello guys, I hope you are enjoying the festivities. Here's a photo from the recent xmas party at Old Fogey's place, as you can see it was packed, though some commented that it was a bit dead. And somebody trod a few leaves into the place, not to mention spilling red fluid on the carpet - I hope it was just red wine but suspect otherwise. Mrs Fogey says I am not allowed to invite my strange friends ever again!

You will be seeing a lot more of these fellas in the new year, I have got the army painting bug at the moment. I'm sure it won't last too long, but if I could add another 60 bodies to this lot, I would be very happy (well, maybe less grumpy than usual). I will get some more pictures posted in the new year. Until then, I wish you

Dark Vengeance progressing

Happy new year folks!

Long story short - the weather forced me not use any primers outside, so I needed to paint something that was primed earlier. I truly am not a fan of these chosen models (they are just too detailed for my eyes) and working on with these was a bit painful because the detail forced me to do extra job all the time... argh. I like simple stuff. Like rocks.

I didn't want these warriors to be a part of any Chaos chapter, but more like a mix of many chapters. I think the Red Corsairs, Alpha legion and Black legion chapters are visible here... You decide what you want to see. Here you go:

And again, this space dude with a better picture (last time when I uploaded this fella here I was in hellish hurry). I really like him!

Early Santa

Hi, it's Turska here again.

Lately I've been sorta busy with a new incomer in my life, my nephew (who has also been busy with irritating diapers and listening to uncle's (ME) blabbering and random noices to get him satisfied again...)

Nope, not so many moments to dig out my paints and start doing something with my unfinished forces.
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

Now, let's talk about hobby syndromes; I think we hobbyists share a common syndrome which we could call 'not getting anything finishes because I have too much other warhammer stuff to do' or, 'lack of motivation', or simply; 'laziness'. Also I got introduced to a new syndrome called 'random act of kindness'. I met an old friend at the movie theatre when I was going to see the Hobbit for the first time, and this old friend of mine asked me if I still was painting miniatures (ehrm, slowly but yes). He said to me that he has some spare hobby stuff at his flat, and he wanted to get rid of them as soon as possible...

So, here's something he gave me totally for free.

- Space Marine Drop Pod (untouched)
- Space Marine Whirlwind (untouched)
- Plastic Terminators
- Tactical Space Marines
- Ork boyz
- random old paints and basing materials (all paints still good!)
- old washes (Only badab black was opened)
- Mumakil with a load of missing parts

The fish is only for entertainment.

I don't know how desperate man can be if he want's to give all this pile of gold for free to a no-lifer. Of course there's an option for me to sell these goods, but as we know for a hobbyist it's almost impossible to say that we don't need some parts of the kits for future projects, and I also think I'll keep this stuff and try to make them a part of my Dark Angels force (work in progress). This act of kindness is a double edged sword - it's cool to own these toys but owning them means it's even harder for me to finish anything ever.... Argh.

Towards the brighter times! Christmas ahoy! Spare me some time to get miniatures done! And thanks for the secret Santa who gave me all this plastic soldiers!

Last one for the year (for Erik)

Dear readers,

This will be my last entry for this year. I have just completed 4 nurglings. The new one from the PB plastic kit has been converted (á la Mr.Saturday) with a hot needle. I really like the expression on them but the pic toned down the layers so they look a bit to contrasty. Well well can't have it all:

Well throwing an update for a mere four nurglings is not that impressive, so I thought that I would give an early Christmas present - namely revealing the mystery of the round bases. Lo and behold ladies and gents a movment tray!

As you can see there are still plenty missing, and to be precise - this is not even the right movement tray. There will be another one for these warriors which might even be bigger so plenty more nurgly goodness to come! I hope you have enjoyed these so far, I certainly have. So happy holidays and see you on the other side //Cheers

Still alive... somewhat

Wow real life is really trying its best so that I can't have time/energy to paint. However I thought that I should post something just to show that I'm alive and that I'm still working on these.

Wip left and center, the right one is done. Nothing big on the conversion just a quick headswap and a hood made of gs. Far left dude got a new polearm and a nice grabby hand from the new plaguebearer kit (love it!).

I also missed the deadline of TWF conversion challenge, but here is the final product. This dude will be the standard bearer for the regiment. Made from a black orc body, head and foot from the plaguebearer kit etc. Really like his jolly look.

Hope you like these (small) updates. - cheers

Let's get techy

So another weekend past and some more minis to show. I finished up two more warriors for the chaos regiment that is starting to shape up rather nicely. I always loved the guy to the left and it was a treat to paint. I was unsure how to paint the staff but in the end I decided to go with simple rusted metal.

The guy to to the right was hard to paint as there is so much detail that I was unsure of what it represent, especially the fur was hard to get right and I'm not 100% pleased with it. I might redo it when I go back and add the finishing touches on the minis and fix the basing.

adding to the ranks

Just a quick update with three more fellows or the merry bunch.

Just something quick for today...

Here he's , the Lord of the herd , the bigger beastman around.
It was painted some time ago , but I think he's still cool.
Not so far from the nurglesque theme that I'm using on my chaos warriors.

Two more for the team

Another Saturday, another day were I actually had time to paint :D and to celebrate - here's two more or the warrior block. I never liked the sorc mini when it was released, but with a quick staff swap it looks way better and I really enjoyed painting it. This might not look as much progress but I had one of these unorganized sessions were I panted a bit here and a bit there on many minis. So far only the flyface is done.

The red gems are a test to incorporate a bit more red in the regiment. there will only be a few more places where I add them but I think that it will give a nice contrast - however I'd love your views on it.

And  here's a WIP on a palanquin. It's very inspired by the story about Valnir the Reaper from libre chaotica. So far it is quite hard to make out what has been added but when the basecoat is on it I think it will show. The idea is to paint this one for the Massive Voodoo painting comp. We will see if I have time to finish it to the quality that I intend.
